The importance of prepping the skin before shaving
We have all heard how important it is to prepare and plan for things, so why should shaving be any different? Exactly, we should prepare the skin before shaving. By doing so we can prevent some common problems such as:
- Damage to the epidermis
- Painful and burning feeling after shaving
- Razor bumps
- Dry skin
How can we avoid this: Moisture. Hydrate. Moisture. Moisturing your skin and softening your facial hair allows you to get a close comfortable shave in one pass. Another important tip is to shave with the grain – in the direction your hair grows, you are less likely to get ingrown hairs or razor bumps.
Our conditioning pre-shave conditioning serum (click here to find out more) is a super moisture filled mix of seven oils – Olive, Grapeseed, Kukui Nut, Castor, Rosehip and Vitamin E oils. Then add Squalane – a natural plant-based moisturiser, which absorbs rapidly into the skin. It is found in human sebaceous secretions which in our skin peaks in our twenties but rapidly declines as we age. Once absorbed into our skin, it prevents UV damage, promotes cell growth and is an antibacterial. You can see why this a super power ingredient in our serum.
Two sprays on cleansed skin is all that is needed, this is then applied to the skin between two to five minutes prior to shaving to work it’s magic.
This can be followed up with our creamy luxurious shaving cream which literally puts the fun back into shaving.
